Cornwall Charity Cup

The Cornwall FA Charity Cup is underway and I was happy to go to see St.Agnes play Wendron – it was a tightly fought affair with St Agnes, who are a league lower, scoring first and nearly holding out to the end.

Wendron’s class started to show and they scored just before the final whistle, building on their success to secure the game in extra time.

Invictus will be the recipients of all money raised in all the rounds so please support the games if you can.

Invictus meets the Minister!

Today I was lucky enough to have a 30 minute one-to-one with Norman Lamb who is a Health Minister responsible for Mental Health as well as being a thoroughly good man!

He has promised to write a letter of support to Invictus about the work we are doing to remove the 18 year old barrier as the unit we are proposing supports 13-25 year olds. Whilst he is supportive of short stays in units and then integrated care via outpatient and community work, he also understands how unacceptable care out of county is. So the concept of flexible beds in county plus a well developed system of education, outreach and support is a balanced approach he supports.

He was very interested in the Invictus cards and films and has taken a sample of each.

When he visits Cornwall in the near future I have invited him to a meeting with the Foundation Trust, so who knows we may develop this further!

Bobby Griffith’s Half Marathon

Many thanks to Bobby Griffith’s for signing up for the Bristol Half Marathon on Sunday 15th Spetember 2013.

Please sponsor him.

Here are some of Bobby’s own words:

I have had an idea. As many will know I detest exercise partly because of my asthma, partly because of my chain smoking, and partly because i’m lazy. Setting aside these things I would love to run the Bristol Half Marathon in aid of the Invictus Trust which lies very close to my heart as it does to many peoples’. I know it’s not a full marathon but I don’t think I could do a full one. where as I promise you, no matter how long it takes or how much I moan I will finish! It’s in September so I have around 4 months to train and raise money.  I hope that if I can do this, I will not only astonish myself, and raise money for the trust, but also create more awareness which is never a bad thing! Not sure if i’ve left anything out, hopefully not. I’m not going to lie i’m terrified about this all, not just the running but about making a respectable amount for your charity.  Bobby Smiling face with smiling eyes x”

We think its an amazing gesture and wish him the best of luck and hope you can sponsor him. Run Bobby Run !
