Lucy runs the London Marathon

The amazing Lucy Barkhuysen ran THE LONDON MARATHON for Invictus yesterday!!! As a young lady who has found running to be her therapy, we are so proud of Lucy, running in our first ever charity place for the marathon – which is being dubbed “The Mental Health Marathon” this year!!

As Lucy herself said

” Today I completed the London Marathon for The Invictus Trust, and marks my 5th Marathon in a year!

When I was 17 and studying for my AS Levels, I began to find it hard to cope with exam pressure and became very unhappy and suffered with anxiety and depression. Someone told my Mum about the Invictus Trust and found it so helpful to find a resource that gave her such good support and advice about how she could help me. Thus making the Invictus Trust a charity close to my own heart. It was difficult to ask for help but when I did, I was listened to by my family, college tutor and GP and was then able to get the help and treatment that I needed quickly before it got any worse.

I ran today because I want anyone who is feeling low, unhappy and desperate to know that there is help out there, and its OK and important to talk about your feelings and you can and WILL get better, We ALL have mental health so never feel embarrassed or ashamed to talk about it….not only will you help yourself but you will help others by reducing the stigma surrounding it.”

WELL DONE LUCY, WE WERE ALL BEHIND YOU FOLLOWING YOUR PROGRESS ON THE APP!!!!!!!
